Ruby

Ruby is corundum — the same mineral as sapphire — colored red by trace chromium within the crystal structure. Chromium absorbs blue-green light and emits a red fluorescence, which intensifies the color in certain lighting conditions. The finest rubies come from the Mogok Valley in Myanmar, where the stone has been mined for over a thousand years. Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, and Madagascar are also significant sources. Mozambique has emerged as a major producer of vivid, high-quality material in recent decades.
The most prized rubies are described as pigeon's blood: a deep red with a slight blue undertone, intense but not dark. It is one of the few gemstones with an internal glow — the chromium fluorescence under daylight creates a warmth that photographs cannot fully capture. Ruby is a stone with clear presence. It does not blend into a look; it anchors it. For people who move through the world with purpose, who commit fully and hold their position. Wear it when something matters.
