June birthstone
Moonstone is a variety of feldspar — one of the most abundant minerals in the earth's crust, yet capable of something uncommon. When alternating layers of orthoclase and albite feldspar stack in thin sheets, light scatters between them in a phenomenon called adularescence: a soft, floating glow that moves across the stone as it turns. The effect is unlike any other gem. Primary sources include Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, and Madagascar.
The surface appears to hold light from inside, shifting between silver, blue, and cream. Some stones show a strong blue flash; others glow like fog over still water. The June-born often carry a quiet awareness — trusting what they sense as much as what they see. Wear moonstone on quiet days, in transitional seasons, or any time the world feels like it needs to be held gently.
Three ways to read this month: pearl (Modern), moonstone (Planetary), alexandrite (Ancient). We work with natural stones — June at Goldlip is moonstone. The stone the moon is named for. Soft light, never sharp.
