Larimar

Larimar is a blue variety of the mineral pectolite, found only in the southwestern Dominican Republic — the only known deposit in the world. It forms in volcanic rock where copper-rich hydrothermal fluids seeped into cavities in ancient basalt at temperatures below 170°C. The copper substitutes for calcium in the crystal structure, producing the blue. While ordinary pectolite is common and grey worldwide, gem-quality larimar exists in one small region on one Caribbean island.
The color moves from pale sky to deep Caribbean blue, with white cloud-like patterns flowing through the stone. No two pieces share the same pattern. It carries the specific quality of light on water — calm, unhurried, something you want to keep looking at. The person it suits moves the same way: at their own pace, with an ease that doesn’t have to be explained. Best worn in summer, near water, or anywhere you want to bring that quality with you.
