Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is among the most abundant of the pink minerals in the earth’s crust, forming in pegmatite rock and hydrothermal veins where silica-rich fluids cool slowly over geological time. The pink color comes from trace titanium, iron, or manganese — or in some stones from microscopic fibrous inclusions that scatter light differently. Brazil, Madagascar, Mozambique, India, and South Dakota in the USA are major sources. The stone is common in nature but rarely achieves the tone and translucence that makes it valuable as a gem material.

Pale to medium pink, slightly hazy, smooth rather than sharp. It has a softness that is not weakness — more like the quality of someone who moves through the world gently and means it.
