Some peridot arrives from space: it has been found in pallasitic meteorites, iron-nickel meteorites with olivine crystals embedded in their structure. The historic source is Zabargad Island in Egypt, mined for over 3,500 years. Arizona in the United States, Pakistan's Kohistan region, Myanmar, and China are significant modern sources.
